(Cushing, Okla.) Russ Thurman, President of the local Lions Club International, called the meeting to order today at 12:22 p.m. The agenda started with song and pledge by Lion Jerry Snyder. This was followed by request for prayers that included two of our Lions, Hoppy and Buck. This was followed by prayer with Russ Thurman.

Lions Club then welcomed all the guests that came today including David Herber and Jill Shero both Field Representatives for Frank D. Lucas. (Jill is replacing David who is going to go to law school)

Lions Club member Kym Skinner and Ashley Munsell, who are both employed by the Bank of Cushing, spoke to Lions about the 27th Annual PRCA Rodeo that’s happening this weekend. Justin McKee will be announcing once again (he and his wife Jenny are from Lenapah, Oklahoma). Gizmo the Clown will be on hand to perform with 22 years of experience as a Rodeo Clown. Cowgirl Sweethearts Lindy Nealey and Hailey Ganzel will perform trick riding and roman riding, along with other riding stunts. Right Path Riding Academy will participate at Friday’s pre-show.

Kids will have a Boot Scramble-which is where they remove their boots and race down the arena and back, to see who gets back to their boots first.

There are approximately 200 contestants for Slack Time.

Tickets for the 27th annual PRCA Rodeo are $10 in advance and $12 at the gate and can be purchased at either Bank of Cushing location.

Skinner thanked the Cushing Lions Club for their support and told the club that they are one of our community’s greatest assets.

The club has agreed to do upkeep on the ticket booth at the Rodeo grounds which includes replacement of roofing shingles, paint, and wood repair.

Terry Brannon thanked Lions Mary Kelly and Tom Cummings. Kelly for her work on selling the Rodeo book and Cummings for his wonderful pictures that he takes.

The meeting adjourned around 12:59 (p.m.).
