(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Stillwater man has been accused of possessing a stolen Bad Boy lawnmower — that was allegedly taken from a residence between Stillwater and Coyle on May 31 – and driving on a suspended license in Stillwater on June 3.
Dana Keith Wilkerson Jr., 27, could be incarcerated for six years if convicted of both counts filed Friday. Wilkerson remains free on $5,000 bond pending a July 17 court appearance.
His passenger, Carl William “Billy” Wilson Jr., 20, of Stillwater, has been charged only with possessing methamphetamine on June 3 when the pair were arrested in Stillwater by Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Nack.
Wilson remains free on $5,000 bond pending a July 17 court appearance. He could be given a two to 10-year prison term if convicted of drug possession.
The deputy was patrolling the Stillwater area in a marked sheriff’s car on June 3 when he saw Wilkerson driving on a suspended license a black Chevrolet Trailblazer, pull into property at 14th and Lewis Street, unload an orange zero-turn-style lawnmower from a towed trailer, and mow the yard, Nack alleged in his affidavit.
The deputy wrote in his affidavit, “I waited down the road to see if Dana left driving. Approximately 15 minutes later, I observed the black SUV with trailer and lawnmower leave westbound.”
When the deputy made a traffic stop on the SUV at 13th and Duncan Street in Stillwater, Wilkerson was driving and his passenger was breathing hard, the affidavit alleged.
After Wilkerson was arrested for driving on a suspended license, an inventory was conducted on the SUV, the affidavit said.
“I observed the panel on the passenger door, which holds the window switches, was removed and an open void could be looked down,” where methamphetamine, a spoon and two syringes were observed, according to the affidavit by the deputy — who arrested Wilson for drug possession.
The lawnmower’s serial numbers matched the ones on the stolen mower, the affidavit alleged.
During an interview the next day, Wilkerson admitted that he and Wilson went to a house between Stillwater and Coyle, where the mower was driven onto the trailer, the affidavit alleged.
Wilkerson said that Wilson drove a four-wheeler away that was recovered on the night of June 3 by Noble County deputies on property of a relative of Wilkerson, the affidavit alleged.
In an interview also on June 4, Wilson “admitted that he was with Dana (Wilkerson) during the larceny,” on property near 80th and Country Club in Stillwater, the affidavit alleged.
Wilson said that he drove the four-wheeler away, the affidavit alleged.
Wilson “also admitted to an additional larceny of a four-wheeler the next day or two within Stillwater city limits that was recovered by Noble County at the same time on June 3 at the Wilkerson residence,” the affidavit alleged.
