(Cushing, Okla.) The following information is a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety.
A collision occurred on May 18th (2015) at approximately 12:34 (a.m.) at State Highway 33 and Coyle Road (thats about 10 miles west of Perkins) in Payne County.
The unidentified subject that was driving the 1999 GMC Pickup had stopped on State Highway 33 and was facing northwest when the 1990 Buick being driven by Paul David Welch (78) of Guthrie struck the 1999 GMC in the right rear (as the 1990 Buick was headed westbound).
The unidentifed subject fled the scene and Welch was transported by Life Net to Logan County Hospital, and then by Guthrie EMS to OU Presbyterian in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in stable condition, with trunk internal and head injuries.
The DPS report shows the accident was caused due to improper stopping in the roadway.
