(Cushing, Okla.) – Payne County Leadership Connections class held their last class, Wednesday, May 13th (2015), with students and instructor Suzette Barta meeting up for lunch at Brooklyn’s in Stillwater (Oklahoma) where the group dined prior to class getting underway.

The first part of the class began with a tour of Asco Aerospace USA, LLC (Stillwater). The company is a Belgium-based business located in Stillwater, Oklahoma (they moved their about 2 years ago). Asco designs airplane wings/wing parts for some of the 700 Series airplanes for Boeing and Spirit.

The class then traveled onto Meridian Technology at 1414 South Sangre Road (Stillwater) to visit with Brad Rickelman, Assistant Director in the Center for Business Development. Brad talked with the class about Business Incubators of which Meridian Technology currently has 11 in operation.

BillyGoat Ice Cream Co. is currently one of the 11 businesses in the Business Incubator at Meridian. They were able to get their start with a $95,000 grant from the USDA. The business is currently manned by two people; with one of the two staying at the facility when the ice cream is in the process of being made.  It takes two days to complete the ice cream process.  BillyGoat Ice Cream Co. currently has five different flavors and can be purchased at various locations in Stillwater.

Payne County Leadership finished up the class with a question and answer session that was designed to help improve the Leadership Class in the future.
