(Cushing, Okla.) Jim Pickard, President of the local Lions Club International, called the meeting to order today at 12:21 p.m. The agenda started with song and pledge by Lion Jerry Snyder. This was followed by prayer requests for Ami Whitlow Brown and prayer by Russ Thurman.
Lions Club members were offered the opportunity to purchase at $1 a piece pop or candy from left overs.
Cushing Lions annual Pancake Breakfast is Saturday May 23rd (2015) at the Lion’s Den (124 W. Broadway) from 7 (am) to 11 (am) tickets are $5 apiece.
Lion Tom Cummings asked the club about helping out at the Special Olympics in Stillwater on Thursday May 14th (2015) from 8 (am) to 4 (pm). Lions have eye screenings, with help on hand to complete the process of getting corrective eye wear and goggles to those that are in need, at the Wes Watkins Center in Stillwater.
Richard Hawkins, Stillwater Noon Lions Club was a guest today. Stillwater Noon Lions are having a Pancake Breakfast at Applebees in Stillwater, from 8 (am) to 10 (am), tickets are $10.
A special Thank You letter from Lions Club International came to the Cushing club for the $150 donation that was made by the club.
The club is still checking into repairing or replacing the front window awning and is still accepting bids.
Lion of the day Lou Griffin informed members that the Downtown Association has asked that the club spruce up that area around the building through cleaning up at the street curbs, sidewalks and doing a little weed control. Lion Gerald Jolley has generously offered to allow use of his pressure washer. Clean up is slated for Thursday, May 21st (2015).
Lion Russ Thurman won today’s 50/50 drawing worth $10.
