(Cushing, Okla.) Members of the Cushing Police and Cushing Fire Departments will be running a secondary Special Olympics Torch Run starting at KUSH Radio at approximately 10 a.m. Friday, May 8th. The run will end at the Cushing Public Safety Center.
Cushing PD is also currently selling Special Olympics t-shirts and accepting donations to help defray the expense of Cushing Special Olympic team members participating in this annual event. Special Olympics Summer Games will be kicking off Wednesday, May 13th in Stillwater. Over 100 people from Cushing will be participating in this year’s games.
“We are excited to bring awareness and support to our local athletes,” Cushing Police Chief Tully Folden said.
Citizens are urged to show their support with signs and cheers as the runners make their way from KUSH to the Safety Center on Friday. Folks are also urged to drive safely and be aware of those participants. The run is expected to take approximately two hours from beginning to end.
