(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Stillwater woman has been charged with illegally using a Perkins woman’s bank card to buy $500 worth of merchandise from Victoria’s Secret and concealing the stolen card from its rightful owner.
Sabrina Dawn Crouch, 32, who previously lived in Perkins, was arrested and released on $7,500 bond last week pending an April 20 court appearance on the two-count felony charge. Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Tomm Edwards wrote in an affidavit filed last week that on Feb. 22, he met the victim in the lobby of the Perkins Police Department.
The victim said that she had spent the night at Crouch’s residence in Perkins and discovered that her car had been broken into when she went outside to get her things in the morning, the affidavit said.
She said “all her identity documents, along with those of her children, were in her purse,” along with $20 cash, the affidavit said. She said a new laptop computer in the car was also taken, the affidavit said.
She said she “checked her banking account online and discovered two $500 withdrawal transactions at the Payne County Bank ATM located at 202 S. Main Street in Perkins. Also there was a check card transaction in the amount of $500 to Victoria’s Secret,” the affidavit said.
The next day, the sheriff’s deputy learned that Perkins Police Officer George Farmer had contacted Crouch at the Perkins casino and found she was in possession of credit cards and an Oklahoma Access card belonging to the victim, the affidavit alleged.
“Crouch was also in possession of a wallet with cash and other credit cards,” the affidavit alleged.
Crouch told the Perkins police officer that she had found the woman’s items at Ampride, the affidavit alleged.
If convicted of the two-count felony charge, Crouch could be given as much as a life prison term plus three years and a $13,000 fine, according to court documents filed by Payne County First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Etherington last week.
