(Stillwater, Okla.) — An investigation was continuing today into the stabbing of a 67-year-old man in the area of 1800 S. Fern Street in Stillwater about 8 p.m. Saturday, a Stillwater police news release said.

“According to witnesses, the suspect beat the victim with a bottle and then stabbed the victim with the broken bottle,” in what appears to have been a robbery, Stillwater Police Captain Kyle Gibbs said.

LifeNet ambulance provided aid at the scene before the victim was flown by EagleMed helicopter to an Oklahoma City hospital, GIbbs said.

“As of Monday afternoon, the victim was still in the hospital and listed as being in good condition,” Gibbs said.

The assault suspect is described as a black male in his twenties, who left the area as a passenger in a dark gray four-door car, possibly a Dodge Charger, going south to 19th Street, Gibbs said.

The involvement of the driver, described as a young black male, in the possible robbery is unknown, Gibbs said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Stillwater Police Department at 405-372-4171, Gibbs said.
