(Stillwater, Okla.) – An ex-convict from Cushing with three prior drug convictions has been ordered to appear in court Thursday on charges of being a felon in possession of a .22-caliber revolver, and also possessing the drug alprazolam, both on March 10 in Cushing.

John Curtis Lord, 35, who got out of prison 14 months ago, remains free on $20,000 bail, court records show.

If convicted of possessing a firearm after a former felony conviction, Lord could be sentenced to three years to life in prison due to his criminal record. If convicted of his misdemeanor drug charge, Lord could be incarcerated for one year and fined $1,000.

Lord was released from prison in January 2014 after serving about two years of a five-year prison term for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver in Cushing in 2011, state Department of Corrections show. He remains on probation in that case, DOC record show.

Lord also was convicted of possession of methamphetamine east of Cushing in 2008, for which he was initially placed on five years’ probation, which was revoked in 2012, court records show.

Lord also had been convicted of possession of a drug with intent to distribute in Payne County in 2004, for which he was given a five-year prison term in 2005 of which he served about four years, DOC records show.
