(Stillwater, Okla.) – A former Bank of Cushing teller has been ordered to stand trial on a charge of embezzling $1,030 from the Main Street branch in December 2014.

Hannah Lorain Mincks, 26, who now works as a waitress in Sand Springs where she resides, could receive as much as a five-year prison term, a $5,000 fine and an order to pay restitution if convicted of the felony charge.

Mincks was arrested in Tulsa and held in the Payne County Jail on $5,000 bail for about six weeks until she waived her right to a preliminary hearing on March 2 and was released on a personal recognizance bond. She was ordered to return to court on April 17.

Cushing Police Officer Bill McCarty wrote in an affidavit that he was advised on Dec. 17, 2014, “a surprise audit was conducted on the cash drawer of Hannah Lorain Mincks, who works for the Bank of Cushing eastside branch.”

The audit showed that Mincks’ cash drawer was short $630 and two bundles of $50 bills were short $200 each, the affidavit said.

According to a Bank of Cushing employee, “Mincks showed that she had balanced out every day,” the affidavit said.

Mincks was the vault teller for the past six months, the Cushing officer wrote in his affidavit filed in January.

“Due to other shortages at the bank, it would be hard to determine when Hannah started embezzling the money,” the Cushing officer was advised by a bank official, the affidavit alleged.

When the Cushing officer interviewed Mincks on Dec. 18, 2014, “Hannah stated that she fell on hard times and took the money from the bank,” the affidavit alleged.

Mincks “stated that the only money she took was the $1,030,” the affidavit alleged.
