(Cushing, Okla.) On March 9, 2015 just after 1:30 p.m. Cushing Police Officers Michael Bruggman and Ofc. Rachel Hentges responded the Cimarron Correctional Facility 3200 S. Kings Highway, in reference to a suspicious white SUV.

Upon arrival officers observed the white SUV, which had been contacted on the perimeter road. The perimeter road, which completely surrounds the facility is closed to civilian traffic. Based on the location of the vehicle and their knowledge of past incidents involving contraband being thrown over the facility fences, officers then made contact with driver, George Broadie II, whom was standing outside his vehicle.

Broadie, a 24 year old Altus residence advised that he was there to pick up his cousin, which was being released. During questioning, Broadie showed signs of deception. Officer Bruggman then asked Broadie if there was anything illegal in his vehicle, which he said no. Officer Bruggman then asked Broadie for consent to search his vehicle, which he granted.

Broadie then opened the rear hatch of his vehicle. During the search of the rear compartment, Officer Jerrod Livergood then found three baggies which contained a green leafy substance. Officer Bruggman later field tested the green leafy substance, which tested positive for Marijuana.

Broadie was subsequently arrested and transported to the Cushing Police Department, where he was held on a complaint of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Broadie is expected to be transported to the Payne County Sheriff’s Department today.

“I would like to commend the teamwork displayed by both Cimarron Correctional Staff and Cushing Officers, to help remove these drugs from our city”, Chief Tully Folden said.
