(Cushing, Okla.)  As another year comes to an end, KUSH would like to wish all its listeners, readers – and yes, viewers – a very Happy New Year! We would also like to thank all of our sponsors, because without you, KUSH would not have been able to survive, let alone thrive in 2014.

In 2014, KUSH welcomed many guests into its studios (over 250 at last count). From “regulars” such as State Representative Lee Denney, Chamber Director Brent Thompson and our Cushing Tigers – to musicians such as John Cooper, Parker Millsap, Jimmy LaFave, Cody Canada, Chuck Dunlap, Tom Skinner and a local favorite – the Dust Bowl Brothers; it’s truly amazing the people we have had the opportunity to meet either in person or by phone.

We’ll never forget when Governor Mary Fallin stopped in with her entourage for a brief interview and change of clothes, or when American Idol finalist Kelli Pickler made a call to the KUSH. Young, old, preachers, teachers, famous and maybe even a little infamous – KUSH has opened its studio doors for folks to come in and talk about their favorite subject , whether it was themselves, their business, their music, or a cause they happened to feel passionate about. We would like to thank each and every one of them for gracing us with their visits.

This past year we have also added a few new things to the KUSH. In the fall, not only did KUSH add a new show (The Marilu Henner Show) to its weekday afternoon programming, but we also began broadcasting Drumright Tornado football on Citylinktv/Drumright. This winter we added Drumright Tornado basketball to the mix, broadcasting all home games on CityLinktv/Drumright. And lastly, KUSH published its fourth magazine this year – the KUSH Christmas Review, which turned out to be quite popular.

It’s been quite a year at the KUSH, and in looking back, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the biggest challenge KUSH faced in 2014 – the sudden death of Sean Kelly in January. Simply put – it rocked our world. But with the help of friends, family and the belief that “everything happens for a reason,” KUSH continues to march forward looking toward a bigger and brighter 2015. And with that, we wish everyone a very Happy – and Safe – New Year!
