Sarah Jane Dennis, of Yale, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Stillwater Regional Hospital, Stillwater, OK, at the age of 80. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the First Assembly of God in Yale, Oklahoma. Pastor Randell Newby will officiate. Interment will follow at Underwood Cemetery, Yale, Oklahoma.
Sarah was born on September 13, 1934 in Hugo, Oklahoma to the late Oscar and Stella (Blankenship) Kelley. She grew up in Hugo. Sarah married the love of her life Fred Dennis on May 5, 1951 in Los Cruces, N.M. to this union Harry and Freda were born. They made their home in Yale where they raised their children. Sarah worked for the Yale Nursing Home as a dietician for many years. She also sold Avon on the side. She was a member and active in the First Assembly of God for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Sarah like to embroidery, and most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Freda Leighty and husband Eldon of Yale, Oklahoma, son Harry James Dennis and wife Pamela of Beasley, Texas, three brothers: Harry Kelley of Corpus Christi, Texas, Pete “James” Kelley and wife Margie of Drumright, Corbet Kelley of Cushing, grandchildren: Crispin Lewis and wife Lisa, Marcie Napier and husband Rendell, Anya Naki Ingram and husband Curt, Jacob Green, Joshua Green, Gretchen Vecellio, Kristen Jordan and family, Carolyn Adams and family, Great grandchildren: Zach Dennis, Krisha Lewis, Jeffry Lewis, Vincent Vecellio, Dillon Dennis, one great great granddaughter Skarlett Rain Dennis.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Dennis, twin sisters: Bernice Griffin and Lorese June, Infant sisters: Jewell and Geneva.
