(Durant, Okla.)  – The Oklahoma Small Business Development Center (OKSBDC) presented Fechner Pump and Supply of Cushing, OK with an OKSBDC Business Survival Program Certificate of Completion.

John Fechner, Fechner Pump and Supply, Inc. President, accepted the certificate from Dave Williams, OKSBDC Business Survival Senior Consultant. The company worked with OKSBDC to develop a business continuity plan in an effort to be better prepared for a hazard or disaster that would impact the workplace environment, employees, and productivity. The plan included a thorough evaluation of a variety of processes, practices, and policies.

“We appreciate the input and assistance of OKSBDC with this endeavor. As we were setting in our conference room watching the Moore tornado go through that community, our thought was what would we do if this thing headed toward Cushing? How would we survive? Where would we go? And, with the help of OKSBDC, we now have a survival plan in place. If something happens, we will survive and we will be in business the next day. We appreciate the assistance of the OKSBDC with the project,” said President John Fechner regarding the OKSBDC’s involvement.

John Fechner started the company in 1982 originally in Cleveland, Oklahoma before moving to Cushing in 1986. The business has grown significantly since that time and was one of 30 businesses that received a nomination for a small business day recognition that was held at the State Capitol in 2014.

OKSBDC Senior Business Survival Consultant Dave Williams said, “It was a great opportunity to work with Fechner Pump and Supply on this project and I am convinced their progressive approach to preparedness will pay significant dividends for their workplace environment, employees, and productivity. I am pleased we could meet the needs of Fechner Pump and Supply on this particular project and anticipate we will continue that collaboration. I look forward to serving the needs of other businesses that recognize the significance of a business survival plan.”
