(Stilwater, Okla.)  The Stillwater Police Department has arrested twenty-one year old, Isaiah Zoar Marin, for the homicide of a Stillwater man. The victim has been identified as nineteen year old Stillwater resident, Jacob Andrew Crockett.

Isaiah Marin has been transported to the Payne County Jail where he will be arraigned at 1:30 pm today. Stillwater Police Investigators have been in conference with District Attorney Tom Lee and charges of First Degree Homicide have been filed by the Payne County District Attorney’s Office.

Yesterday, at 2:46pm, Marin called 911 to report he had killed someone. While officers were responding to the area we received additional calls referencing a man, covered with blood, carrying a long knife or machete walking on SH 51 in the western portion of Stillwater. Upon contacting the suspect, he dropped the weapon and was detained by officers. Mr. Marin provided enough information for officers to locate the deceased victim in an apartment at 419 S. Oakdale #6.

The suspect was interviewed by Detectives last night at which time he confessed the fact he had taken the life of Mr. Crockett by use of the sword type weapon.

Social media is widely circulating at this time as to the motive for this crime, and for this reason only, I address the following; The victim in this case is the son of an Oklahoma State Trooper but this has not been shown in any way to be a motive for this killing, nor a pertinent fact in any way.

Investigators continue to investigate this incident and interview persons who may have pertinent information. The victim’s family has requested their privacy be respected at this time.
