(Perkins, Okla.) According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports at 7:14 (am) this morning an accident occurred on State Highway 33, 2/10 of a mile west of Redlands Road (6 miles west of Perkins, Oklahoma) in Payne County.
Rocky Baca (37) of Choctaw was driving a 2010 Dodge Van eastbound in the westbound lane while Jennifer Briggs (24) of Stillwater was driving a 2012 Ford Focus westbound. Briggs’ vehicle attempted to swerve left to avoid the van, while the van swerved right and collided with the Ford in the eastbound lane. Briggs and her passenger Heather Wilson (27) of Stillwater were both pinned in the car prior to being freed by Coyle Fire Department.
Baca was airlifted from the scene by Eagle-Med to OU Medical Center in where he was admitted in serious condition. Both Briggs and Wilson passed away at the scene from multiple injuries.
Both vehicles were equipped with airbags and seat-belts and airbags were deployed in both vehicles.
The condition of the driver is still under investigation as well as the cause of the collision.
