(Cushing, Okla) Jim Pickard, President of the local Cushing Chapter of Lions Club International, called the meeting to order today at 12:25 p.m. The agenda started with song and pledge by Lion Jerry Snider. This was followed by prayer requests for local families along with prayer by Russ Thurman.

Lions Club then introduced the guest Donna Judd with Red Dirt Media.

Today’s agenda did not include any items of correspondence, but President Jim Pickard asked Lion Lou Griffin to read the minutes of the August 26 (2014) meeting in which the Lions accepted them as they were read. He also thanked all of the Lions that stayed over for last week’s board meeting, along with Lion Terry and Lion Lou for meal set up, Teresa for meal preparations and clean up, Tom Cummings for working on the budget with him, and Russ for his “can-do” attitude.

A couple of other items that were not scheduled to be voted on but were – the “Peace Poster” sponsorship (open to 11 to 13 year olds who must produce a poster based on a certain theme) and the “Speech Contest” sponsorship (open to 9th grade through 12th grade). Both of these items were approved by the Lions Club as well as prizes of $50, $30, and $20 for each of those sponsorships.

The meeting adjourned around 12:48 (pm).

Cushing Lions Club meets each Tuesday at noon in the Lions Den in downtown Cushing.
