(Cushing, Okla.)  Nacel Open Door Coordinator Pam Boyett is putting out a call to families in the Cushing area interested in becoming a host family for high school foreign exchange students.Boyett said the deadline is quickly approaching to find host families or welcome families for over 20 students for the 2014-2015 school year. “We have until right after Labor Day weekend to find host families in the area where the schools will accept them,” Boyett told KUSH. “I am working diligently to find those families.”

Welcome families would allow the student to live with them for a couple of weeks until a permanent situation is found.

A host provides meals and a separate bed in a room that can be shared with a sibling of the same gender and approximate age. Students have their own health insurance and spending money.

They all speak English and are coming to experience the American way of life. They will attend high school where the host family lives.

“The students are from several different countries, boys and some girls, anxiously waiting to find out about their host,” Boyett said.
