(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Morrison man — on probation for marijuana possession in Ripley — has admitted making a false ownership declaration of a stolen chainsaw to a Perkins pawn shop and also to shoplifting at a Walmart in Stillwater.
Connor Pete Prickett, 21, who previously lived in Ripley, was released from the Payne County Jail on a personal recognizance bond last week pending his sentencing on March 13, 2015, on all of his charges.
District Judge Phillip Corley accepted Prickett’s guilty pleas last week and ordered the state Department of Corrections to prepare a Youthful Offender Accountability Plan for Prickett.
Perkins Deputy Police Chief Steve Hensley wrote in an affidavit that 14 months ago, he met Stillwater Police Detective Kyle Bruce at the 33 Pawn Shop in Perkins regarding a chainsaw stolen in Stillwater.
“Detective Bruce had located a chainsaw at 33 Pawn in the city limits of Perkins that matches the description of the one that was reported stolen,” in Stillwater, the affidavit said.
The pawn shop owner provided the Perkins deputy police chief with a bill of sale showing Prickett as the seller of a chainsaw to 33 Pawn for $75, on June 12, 2013, at 10:25 a.m., the affidavit said.
Prickett had declared that for two years he had owned the chainsaw that was determined to have been stolen in Stillwater, the affidavit said.
In court last week, Prickett also admitted that in June of this year he had stolen two fishing poles, along with miscellaneous food and hygiene items, from the Walmart on Perkins Road in Stillwater.
In that case, Stillwater Police Officer John Stanbery was sent to the store at 3:30 p.m. on June 30 regarding suspected shoplifters leaving the store and their direction of travel in a vehicle on Perkins Road, an affidavit said.
When the suspect vehicle was stopped in the parking lot of another business in the 1200 block of S. Perkins Road, Prickett was a passenger, the affidavit said.
A Walmart employee said that “Connor Prickett had assisted the other occupant of the vehicle remove items from the shelves at the business.
“The items with a total value of $160.08 were placed into a grocery cart, pushed through the business and out the front doors, passing all points of sale, without the items being paid for,” the affidavit said.
“These items were located inside the vehicle occupied by Connor Prickett,” the affidavit said.
Last September, Prickett had been placed on probation for one year for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Feb. 25, 2013, in Ripley, court records show.
At that time, Prickett was ordered to have a substance abuse evaluation, to follow any recommendations, and to perform 20 hours of community service, along with paying $315 in fines and assessments, court records show.
