(Cushing, Okla) Jim Pickard, President of the local Cushing Chapter of Lions Club International, called his meeting to order today at 12:18 p.m. The agenda started with song and pledge by Lion Jerry Snider. This was followed by prayer requests for several local families along with prayer by Kathleen Leithner.
Lions Club then introduced guests: David Herber, Assistant to Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas, and Donna Judd with Red Dirt Media.
Agenda items included a thank you note from Distinguished Young Women of Payne County, Scholarship for our donation and support. Tail Twister Kevin Clouse announced $5.57 collected during today’s meeting.
Lion of the Day Kateri Holbert introduced today’s speaker: Asher Corter, Vice President of the Payne County 4H Chapter, President of the Freedom 4H Chapter and Vice President of ASAP (Amazing Small Animal Program) family members of Corters that were present: Shawn-Elyn Corter and Delaney Corter.
Corter has started a couple of relief programs for pets: Cans for Canines (recycling of cans for cash) and Towels for Titus (towels, pillows, blankets, and sheets new “or” used). He is also planning to attend and be a part of the Payne County Fair coming up the end of August (2014).
The meeting adjourned around 12:35 (p.m.).
Cushing Lions Club meets each Tuesday at noon in the Lions Den in downtown Cushing.
