(Cushing, Okla.)  It was a bittersweet meeting of American Legion Post 108 on Monday evening, as long-time Legionnaire Carey Seigle said good-bye to his fellow comrads.  “I don’t think there’s another Post that does more than this one,” Seigle said.  “In my heart, this will always be my Post.”

Post Commander Jim Hunter presented Seigle with a proclamation full of accolades in front of a packed Legion hall.  Also being honored was WWII veteran and Legionnaire Otmer Davis as he celebrated his 92nd birthday.  Both men were given a rousing round of applause for their service.

Seigle has not only been a great proponent of veterans and served as an officer of the Legion, but was on the Cushing Board of Commissioners for several years and the Veteran’s Rep and Manager of Workforce Oklahoma in Stillwater.  He has also worked closely with CCF (Cimarron Corrections Facility) to help those being released from prison find employment.  His passion and compassion will definitely be missed.

Seigle and his wife Peggy are embarking on a new life in Florida where they can be closer to family.
