Gearldine Gayle Floyd, age 74 of Okarche, formerly of Cushing, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Mercy Hospital, Kingfisher, Ok. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2014 at Flynn Cemetery, Cushing, Ok.
Services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
Gearldine was born on November 6, 1939 in Seminole, Oklahoma to the late Wallace and Geneva (Jones) Walker. She grew up in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in 1957. Gearldine married the love of her life Jim Floyd on January 20, 1961 at the First Christian Church in Cushing. To this union Jim Jr., Michael, and Karen were born. Jim worked in the oil field, so Gearldine and the family moved to many states before settling in Oklahoma City in 1988. She worked for Sally’s Beauty Supply for many years and also had a cleaning service. They moved to Okarche in 2001. She was a member of the LDS Church in Oklahoma City. Gearldine was a member of Elk’s Club and the Kingfisher Golf Club. She enjoyed golfing, geneology and discovering family history. Gearldine was an immaculate homemaker and mother.
She is survived by her husband Jim of the home, son Jim Floyd Jr. of Lakewood, Co., daughter Karen Floyd of Arvada, Co., sister Ellen Hunt of Phoenix, Az., grandchildren Nicole Biersdorfer and Robbi Floyd.
Gearldine was preceded in death by her parents, son Michael Edward Floyd, brother James Walker and sister Wanda Osborne.
