Cecile Ilene Ramsey a Jennings/Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, Jun 23, 2014 at her home in Cushing at the age of 93.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Cushing Christian Church.  Rev. Jim Forrest, Rev. Bill Breland, Rev. Joe Anglin, and Pastor Clayton Kerr will officiate.  Interment will follow at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, OK.

Cecile was born on December 1, 1920 in Mannford, Oklahoma to the late Floyd Emerson and Mary Ethel (Brown) Huff. She grew up in Olive and graduated from Quay High School in 1937.  She married the love of her life Tom Ramsey on August 17, 1939 in Newkirk, Oklahoma; to this union Jimmy, Kay, and Gwendolyn were born.  They made their home in Quay for seven years before moving to Jennings. Cecile loved taking care of her family.  She liked going to the farm with her husband to go fishing and quail hunting.  She also enjoyed canning, quilting, and making ceramics. After her children were out of school, she decided to work outside of the home.  She became the postmaster in Jennings, retiring on November 2, 1984. They were members of the Hallett Christian Church.  She moved to Cushing in 1987 where she became active at the Cushing Senior Citizens in the quilting department.  Cecile also enjoyed traveling on Senior Citizen trips and also with friends.  She was lovingly known to her grandchildren as “Bannie”.

Cecile is survived by her son Jimmy Ramsey Sr. and wife Phyllis of Cushing, daughter Kay Smith and husband Joe of Cushing, brother Hubert Huff of Wilder, Idaho, half-sisters Darla Parrish of Denver, Colorado, and Betty Aggi of Ukiah, California, grandchildren Jimmy Ramsey Jr. and wife Mona, Tommy Joe Ramsey, Sharon Kerr and husband Brent, Patricia Niccum and husband J.B.,  Joe Smith II, and wife Kim, step-grandchildren Debbie Mangum and husband Rick, Tom Dawes and wife Anita, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom Ramsey, daughter Gwendolyn Ramsey, step-children Nellie Binkly, Sue Raper and Tommy Ramsey, sisters Juanita Hallman, Mildred Adams, Opal Canfield, half brother Doyle Huff, step-grandchildren, Bobby Bell, Becky Orr, Karen Reed, and Craig Binkly.
