Norma June Lewis of Oilton, Oklahoma passed away at the Cushing Hillcrest Hospital on June 16, 2014 at the age of 83, surrounded by her family and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 19th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Oilton, OK. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery.
Funeral Services have been entrusted to Palmer-Marler Funeral Home in Oilton.
Norma was born on June 27, 1930 in Seminole, Oklahoma to the late Carl and Mabel (Warner) Douglass. Norma grew up in Illinois, and moved back to Oklahoma at the age of 16, and attended and graduated from Oilton High School. Norma went on and attended Central State College for two years before marrying the love of her life James Floyd Lewis on April 7, 1950. To this union one daughter was born Cynthia Lewis, together they travel for James’s work on the pipeline, until he contracted polio and they moved back to Oilton where he taught 30 years before his passing. Norma worked for the Combs insurance company for many years before taking a job at the Oilton Public Schools as a Librarian, where she worked for 10 years before retiring.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Lewis) Dailey and husband John of Bentonville Arkansas, one granddaughter Jennifer Dailey, two great grandchildren Caylan Powers, and Jordan Powers, niece Sarah Canfield and husband Jeff, Great nephews Joel and Joren Canfield, many other relatives and friends. Special thanks to her care givers Bobbi Tucker, Cruz Tucker, and Jenni Gonzales.
She was preceded in death by her parents, he loving husband James, one sister: Virginia Doolin, one brother: Carl Warner Douglass, and two nieces: Susan Doolin, and Deneise Douglass.
Family will meet and greet friends from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Oilton, OK.
