The daughter of the late Henry Lee Earl and Ethel E. Black Earl, Marsha was born on April 12, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in Oklahoma City and Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in the class of 1962.
She was united in marriage to Robert C. Abshier on March 8, 1965, in Pocasset, Oklahoma and to this union two daughters, Kelly and Karen were born.
Bob and Marsha owned and operated Earl’s Jewelers in Cushing, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1960 and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1990. She had worked for the Payne County Election Board for many years; a volunteer for the Cushing Regional Hospital Auxiliary and was one of the first volunteers for Judith Karman Hospice. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was a member of the Cushing Quilt Guild. She loved her family and pets, and was always ready to share stories about them.
Survivors include her husband Bob Abshier of the home; two daughters, Kelly Allen (David Allen) and Karen Abshier (Lisa Pierce); four grandchildren, Elizabeth Allen, Erin Allen (Beslan Khadziev), Emily Allen and Evan Allen; two sisters, Carol Meade (Paul) and Kathryn Calavan (Michael); one great granddaughter, Millana Khadzieva; one sister-in-law, Karliene Spradlin; a brother-in-law, Elmer Abshier (Irene) several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, Cushing.
A visitation will be held in the Floyd Family Center on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 5 – 7.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 418 East Moses, Cushing; Judith Karman Hospice, P.O. Box 818, Stillwater, OK 74076, or to the Cushing Hospital Foundation, 1027 East Cherry, Cushing, OK., in her memory.
