(Cushing, Okla.)  The Cushing Public Library will kick off its Summer Reading Program for ages 6 – 12 with a special visit from the “Oklahoma Kid,” Monday evening, June 2, 2014 at 6:30.

The Oklahoma Kid is a nationally recognized wild west show performer and trick roper.  He performs across the nation at charity events and shows across the nation.  The Kid was one of the performers at last year’s Festival in the Park.

The Kid will be performing rope tricks and will teach rope trick to those children who want to learn at Monday night’s event.  This show is free and open to the public.

Among the Kid’s fans – notables such as George and Laura Bush, Conan o”Brien and Garth Brooks.  He is part Native American and is also a relative of another well-know trick roper – Will Rogers.

Monday is also the first day for parents to register their children in a special Early Literacy Summer Reading Program for children ages 3 – 5.  Openings are limited to 35, so register soon!  The first activity for the Early LIteracy group will be Bubble Fun on Wednesday, June 4th.

This is also the last week for parents to register their children to participate in the Bicycle Rodeo that will take place on June 7th in the parking lot behind City Hall.  The Bicycle Rodeo will be held from 9:30 a.m. until noon, Saturday, June 7th.  The event is sponsored by the Cushing Public Library and the Cushing Police Department for children ages 5 – 12.  Four new bicycles, donated by the F.O.P. (Fraternal Order of Police) and the P.F.F.O. #2565 (Professional Fire Fighters of Oklahoma) will be given away to four participating children at the end of the event.
