An ex-convict — with a criminal record in three counties — has been jailed on $25,000 bond on charges of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of Highland Park Elementary School in Stillwater, possessing alprazolam without a prescription, and having drug paraphernalia, all on May 28.
Former Cushing resident Michael Lynn Rush, 38, of Stillwater, could receive a life prison term plus two years and a $41,000 fine if convicted of the three-count Payne County charge on which he was arraigned Friday.
According to state Department of Corrections records, Rush was convicted of attempting to elude a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a police officer, all in Custer County in 2008, for which he was given concurrent sentences of seven years and five years.
In 2008, Rush was also convicted of knowingly concealing stolen property and shoplifting, both occurring in Custer County in 2007, for which he was given two concurrent seven-year prison terms, DOC records show.
Rush was also convicted in 2008 of domestic assault and battery as a second offense that occurrred in 2005 in Beckham County, for which he was given a four-year prison term, DOC records show.
Rush was also convicted in 2004 of possessing cocaine in Stillwater, for which he was given a three-year sentence, all of which was suspended except 150 days in the Payne County Jail, court records show.
Rush was released from prison in January of 2011, DOC records show.
