For the third year, Drumright Dental Center has again sponsored Special Smiles, part of the Healthy Athletes initiative of Special Olympics Oklahoma. On May 15 the doctors and staff of Drumright Dental Center packed up and traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma. The team was assisted by three students from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Outdoor dental screening clinics were set up on the campus of Oklahoma State University and at Stillwater High School for the 4600 athletes in attendance at the 2014 Summer Games.
The athletes received free dental screenings for infection and decay as well as fluoride treatment and custom fitted athletic mouth guards. “I have the best & most dedicated staff and friends. They always step up and go above and beyond to help others. Thanks for making this the best Special Olympic Summer Games yet” said Travis Burkett, Clinical Director of Special Smiles and owner of Drumright Dental Center.
Derek Cain, Vice President of Special Olympics Oklahoma said, “Drumright Dental has been instrumental in the success of our Healthy Athletes Special Smiles program. They screen hundreds of Special Olympics athletes each year and help them get the dental care they need. They close their office and send all of their staff to our Summer Games for the day.”
