Michael Gordon Aufill, a longtime Yale resident passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Plano, Texas.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday May 17, 2014 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Yale.  Brother Mich Dershem will officiate. 

Family will greet friends at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale from 6:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening.

Michael was born on July 24, 1957 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to William Robert and Katherine Elizabeth (Holley) Aufill.  He grew up and attended school in Socorro, N.M., then attended New Mexico Military Institute before moving to Augusta, Georgia where he graduated from Westside High School in 1975.   Shortly after graduation, he moved to Stillwater and went into business with his brother at Bobo’s in Stillwater in the late seventies closing in the nineties.    In 1996, he moved to Yale and bought a farm which was a dream of his.  Michael was baptized in 1997 and joined the First Baptist Church.  He married the loved of his life Melody Claborn on December 21, 2002.  He worked for Pepsi when he realized he had arthritis, so he made the decision to go back to college.  Michael attended Oklahoma State University receiving his Secondary Science Teaching Degree in 2004 and then his Master’s Degree in Geology in 2007.  He worked for Newfield Exploration in Tulsa from 2007 until 2011 when he began working for Pioneer Natural Resources in Los Colinas, Texas.  He loved his job and the Pioneer Family.  Michael loved his church and his boys.  Michael enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially O.S.U.  He was very opinionated and had very strong political views. Michael was a charter member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was very strong in his faith. 

Michael is survived by his wife Melody Aufill of the home, sons Gordon Aufill and Matthew Aufill, daughter Karen Donovon, brother Bob Aufill and wife Leah of Perkins, sisters Charlotte Bruce and husband Ron of California, Holly Perrow and husband John of Virginia, sister-in-law Mary Kliewer and husband Justin, brothers-in-law Neal Claborn and wife Nicki, Ben Claborn, parents-in-law Marion and Connie Claborn, grandmother-in-law Jo Korkoski, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Falls Creek Fund at Fellowship Baptist Church, Yale.
