Marsha Lee Abshier, longtime Cushing business owner, passed away early Sunday morning, May 11, 2014, at her residence at the age of 70 years.

    The daughter of the late Henry Lee Earl and Ethel E. Black Earl, Marsha was born on April 12, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in Oklahoma City and Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in the class of 1962.

    She was united in marriage to Robert C. Abshier on March 8, 1965, in Pocasset, Oklahoma and to this union two daughters, Kelly and Karen were born.

    Bob and Marsha owned and operated Earl’s Jewelers in Cushing, Oklahoma.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1960 and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1990. She had worked for the Payne County Election Board for many years; a volunteer for the Cushing Regional Hospital Auxiliary; was one of the first volunteers for Judith Karman Hospice.  She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was a member of the Cushing Quilt Guild.

    Survivors include her husband Bob Abshier of the home; two daughters, Kelly Allen and her husband David and Karen Abshier; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Allen, Erin Allen, Emily Allen and Evan Allen; two sisters, Carol Meade and her husband Paul and Kathryn Calavan and her husband Michael; one great granddaughter, Mellana Allen several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

    A memorial service is planned for a later time.
