(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Ripley man accused of stalking his estranged wife while she had an emergency protective order against him has been jailed on $75,000 bail pending a May 13 court appearance on a two-count charge.

If convicted of the felony count of stalking from April 21 through April 24, Samuel Thomas Kaulaity, 36, could be given a five-year prison term and a $2,500 fine, court records show.

If convicted of a misdemeanor count of entering the family home on April 24 while he had been ordered to stay away from it, Kaulaity could be given an additional one-year jail term and a $500 fine, court records show.

Kaulaity was arrested at 10:45 a.m. on April 24 by Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Rockford Brown — six days after his estranged wife obtaining an EPO against him, court records show.

In her petition for a protective order, she wrote that the couple had been married for nearly 15 years and had four children.

“I left last January because of the controlling behavior and violent mood swings. Returned to live with him three months later on his promise that he would get better and get a job.

“He got a job but didn’t stick with it. Has a meth addiction and alcohol addiction. Gets violent, yells, pushes, screws doors shut, takes keys and phone, vehicles, slashes tires, threatens to ‘bury me right now,"” she wrote in her EPO petition.

“Threatens to kill himself by putting gun to his own head. Goes outside and shoots the gun off to scare me that he’s killed himself.

“Throws or hits objects in the house. Follows me around the house yelling. Can’t escape from it. Punches and kicks mattress while I’m in bed. Pulls covers off while I’m in bed to yell at me.

“In shower has pushed his forearm to my neck. Throws pillows or soft things at me so it won’t leave a mark. Drives me on wild rides. And has left me on a dark dirt road and told me to find my own way home.

“Got home, wouldn’t let me in house because it’s ‘his’ house. I got in his truck to lay down. He poured beer on my face and I ran.

“He pulled my hair and told me to go back in the house and shut up or he’d hit me. Drove me halfway to work and turned around and said find my own way.

“He checks my phone and messages. Confronts all my goings. Asks me where and why I’ve done. Never believes me. Extremely jealous!

“Have called sheriff’s dept. twice for him being threatening, but he will leave if he sees them coming. Never know his mood he’ll be in.

“I’m requesting a protective order because I feel the threats are more frequent and violent. I am concerned about the safety for my kids and my life.

“The stress of living like this is unbearable and can’t take it anymore,” she wrote in her petition for a protective order that was served on Kaulaity on April 18, court records show.
