Jens Paul Olesen, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle departed this life on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at his home in Cushing, Oklahoma;  after surviving Throat Cancer he began having heart complications on October 14, 2010 complications from both took him from us. 

Jens was born on November 2, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at St Anthony Hospital to Paul Leth and Kathryn Charolette (Hagebush) Olesen.

Jens graduated from Okemah High School in 1952 and attended college at East Central State to major in Geology until  July 16, 1953 when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a Private.

Attended NCO School, 1st Marine Division in 1954 major course successfully completed in Leadership He served;  Two years  5 months and 17 days in the Foreign Service as a Field Radio Operater  in Korean War.  On November  1, 1955 he was promoted to Sergeant. While serving his country he was awarded the National Defense Service medal, Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (1st award) and was also award Good Conduct Period Comencing on March 4, 1957.  Jens Transfer to 8th Marine Corps Reserve and Recruitment District with Honorable Service July 15 1957.

Jens Paul Olesen and Sylvia Anne Lawrence were united in marriage December 28, 1957 in Heavner, Oklahoma.  They lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma while Jens went on to the University of Oklahoma and received his degree in Journalism in 1962. After graduation was hired by Phillips Petroleum and located he and his family in New England.    In 1966 Phillips Petroleum relocated his family to Tulsa Oklahoma.  After five years he began a new Job in Wichita, Kansas for Conoco where he said said for two year.  While traveling with his job he and his wife stayed in Cushing and both thought it would be a wonderful place to raise their children. As luck would have it, Jens was offered a job by Bray Lines Inc. in Cushing, Oklahoma in 1974 where he was employed until it closed around 1983.  Jens started Asbestos Management Services, Inc. until 1988 when the services were no longer needed for the removal of asbestos in the Oklahoma Schools. Jens continued several other business endeavours before he retired in 1996 to continue his lifelong dream of playing golf, vacationing with his wife, enjoying time with his grandchildren and following his beloved Sooners.

He is survived by his brother Bill Olesen, of Shawnee, Oklahoma and three children: Redonna Olesen Anderson and husband, Michael, Cushing, OK; Charles Paul Olesen, Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and Jens Lawrence Olesen, and wife, Kimberlee, of Versailles, Missouri; grandchildren: Matthew Michael and Stephanie (Dhimmar) Anderson, of Houston, Texas; Bryan Allen Anderson, of Cushing; Dane and Prisca Towery, of Mustang, Oklahoma; Corey and Katy Olesen, Springfield, Missouri; Taylor Olesen, Springfield, Missouri; Eric Olesen and wife Kim , Noble, Oklahoma and Kristen Olesen Moody and husband Raymond, Norman, Oklahoma. He was the very proud great-grandfather of Hailey Anderson of Houston and Khylie Anderson of Stillwater.  He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, one uncle, William Hagebush, one aunt Frances Wesley Phillips and one granddaughter, Ashley Olesen.
