Susan Ann Wolff, a longtime Yale resident, passed away on Friday April 25, 2014 at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 56. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Church of God in Yale. Pastors Mike Clark and Mich Dershem will officiate. Interment will follow at Underwood Cemetery, Yale, Ok. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, Ok.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale.
Susie was born on April 27, 1957 in Chelsea, Oklahoma to Jack and Myrtle (Osten) Walker. She grew up in Chelsea where she played basketball throughout high school, graduating from Chelsea High School in 1975. Susie then went on the play college basketball at N.E.O. and received her Associate Degree in 1977, then attended O.S.U. graduating in 1979 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a Minor in Psychology. She married the love of her life Delbert Wolff on July 8, 1978 at the Chelsea First Baptist Church. They made their home in Grandfield for seven years. While in Grandfield, she obtained a temporary teaching certificate to teach special education. They moved to Yale where they raised their family. They attended the Church of God in Yale. Susie stayed at home with her children until they started school then worked at American Heritage Bank in Yale for nine years. After her children were well into their school years, she began her career with the Department of Human Services in Pawnee as a case worker. She later transferred to Payne County to work as a Developmental Disabilities Service Department (DDSD) case manager where she took care of mentally handicapped people, which was her passion. Susie was named the DDSD State of Oklahoma Social Worker of the Year in 2002. She worked for the DHS until 2006 when she became physically unable to work. Susie liked to fish, garden and work with her flowers. She was an avid O.S.U. Football and Basketball Fan. Susie loved taking care of her dogs and cats. She loved spending time with her family, they were everything to her. She was well known for always trying to take care of everyone else.
Susie is survived by her husband of 35 years, Delbert Wolff of the home, daughter Amber Locke and husband Seth of Bristow, son Travis Wolff and wife Sunni of Sapulpa, mother Myrtle Walker of Chelsea, brothers Johnny Walker and wife Bernice of Chelsea, Ronnie Walker and wife Pam of Chelsea, Robert Walker and Sandi Bible of Claremore, Charlie Walker and wife Debbie of Chelsea, Leon Walker and wife Debbie of Chelsea. She is also survived by host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Jack Walker, and sister-in-law Nancy Walker.
