(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Cushing woman was charged today with possessing marijuana on Friday within 1,000 feet of Roy Kemp Park — while she was free on bail on a charge of passing a $100 forged check at Bill’s EZ Out in Cushing last August.
If convicted of a two-count charge including drug paraphernalia possession on Jan. 17, Christy Lynn McEntire, 24, could be incarcerated for three years and fined $3,000. She remains free on $10,000 bail on the drug charge.
Last month, McEntire waived her right to a preliminary hearing on her second-degree forgery charge, on which she has been ordered to appear for trial court arraignment this Friday.
The alleged victim reported to Cushing police in August that on July 31, 2013, “her wallet was stolen from her purse while she was at the women’s clinic in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the suspect in the theft was Christy McEntire,” Cushing Police Officer Adam Harp wrote in an affidavit.
The alleged victim said that she was contacted by an employee at Bill’s EZ Out on Main Street regarding a check that was returned back to their store, the affidavit said.
That check was written to Bill’s EZ Out on Aug. 7, 2013, for $100, the affidavit said. McEntire’s name was in the memo section of the check, while the alleged victim’s name was printed in the signature section of the check, the affidavit said.
On top of the check was a driver’s license number which belonged to McEntire, the affidavit said.
When McEntire called the police department on Aug. 14, 2013, “I asked McEntire about the forged check that she passed at Bill’s EZ Out and she said that she did not know what I was talking about,” Harp wrote in his affidavit.
If convicted of passing a forged check, McEntire could be given a seven-year prison term, court records show.
