Bertha Jo Rogers, known to her family and friends as “Jo”, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 8, 2014, in Stillwater at the age of 75 years.

    The daughter of the late Robert Maenner and Audie Bates Matthews, Jo was born on September 6, 1938, in Byars, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in Houston, Texas.

    She was united in marriage to Jackie Burns and to this union three children, Kellye, Ronnie and Jackie Lee were born.  She was united in marriage to Lee Covernale, and he preceded her in death.

    Jo had worked as a Paramedic in Houston for several years prior to retiring and moving to Cushing in 2005.

    She enjoyed spending time on her front porch watching everyone drive by; sight seeing, traveling, taking road trips and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

    Survivors include two children, Kellye Kearley and her husband  David  and Ronnie Burns & his wife Charla Dodson; four step-children, Catrina, Carol Ann, Sam and Michael; four grandchildren, Joseph Maphis, Ryan Burns, Justin Burns and Carley Dodson; one great-granddaughter Kaelynn Maphis; one brother, Jim Maenner; one sister, Rita Johnson and other relatives and friends, and her very special cat, “Bubba”.

    In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Jackie Lee.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Cimarron Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 1163, Cushing, Oklahoma  74023.

    A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center.
