(Cushing, Okla.)  – Sunday March 10, 2013, members of the Cushing Police Department conducted an investigation into a bomb threat received through the department’s website tip line.

Given the nature of the threat, Chief Tully Folden requested assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad. A complete search of the Cushing High School was completed by school faculty, Cushing Police, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agent, and four Oklahoma Highway Patrol Explosives Detection K9 teams, which resulted in no items being found.

Through information obtain from our tip line and with the assistance of the FBI Agents, we were able to identify a Tulsa residence, which was believed to be the source of the threat.

On Monday March 11, 2013, Detective Adam Harp and Chief Tully Folden met with members of the Tulsa Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. As a result of the meeting, a search warrant was obtained for a Tulsa residence and a search was later conducted, where numerous items of evidence were recovered.

During the search warrant service, Law Enforcement Officials were able to identify two persons of interest in connection with the recent school threats. Detective Harp was able to contact one of the persons of interest who, at the time of contact, was out of state, while the second person of interest remains at large in the Tulsa area. Cushing Police continue to work with outside agencies as our investigation is ongoing.
