Kimberly Sue Smith McDonald, Cushing, Okla., went home to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 17, 2012. She was 49 years old.

A private memorial service will be Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, with Rev. Gary A. Brown officiating.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at the Cedar Lane Apartments clubhouse, 2309 E. Anna Street, Cushing, Okla., 74023, at 3 p.m. Everyone who knew Kim is invited to attend.

Kim was born Aug. 22, 1962, to Connie Joyce Cox and Phillip Lee Smith in Oklahoma City, Okla. She graduated from Putnam City West High School in 1980.

 

Kim was blessed with a son, Colby Schuyler Smith, Oct. 24, 1990. She married the love of her life, Richard Lee McDonald, Dec. 1, 2000.

 

She was the manager of the Cedar Lane Apartments in Cushing at the time she passed. She made a career of managing senior citizen communities and found joy in her work.

 

Kim enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, who will remember her love of bingo, Sooner football, NASCAR, classic rock and country music favorites, as well as her dogs, Baby and Buster.

 

Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alton and Willa Truitt; her stepfather, Scotty Cox; and two sons, Gregory Smith and Rick McDonald.

 

She is survived by her husband, Richard McDonald; mother, Connie Cox; children, Colby Smith and Kim Gilleland; sister, Debora Goff, and husband Michael; grandchildren, Tyler Gilleland, R.C. McDonald, Jake Gilleland and Nick McDonald; nieces, Nixie Sanderson and husband, Jeffery, and Kasey Goff; her uncle and aunt, Ronny and Sherry Truitt; and cousins, Butch Truitt and wife, Melanie, Spencer Truitt and wife, Melissa, and Kary Truitt.
