(Cushing, Okla.)  The Cushing Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that Cushing has been selected by KOCO Channel 5 as a stop on their “Helping Hand Tour”.  Channel 5 will be in Cushing all day tentatively scheduled for either Monday, Sept. 10th or Tuesday, Sept. 11th.

The focus of KOCO’s Helping Hand Tour is non-profit philanthropic organizations that create a positive synergy and make a difference in the quality of life in Cushing.

Chamber Director Brent Thompson said one activity will be a “Cushing Appreciation Picnic” that evening to honor emergency responders – ie: Cushing Police Department, Cushing Fire Department and EMTs who “worked so hard and valiantly to respond to our recent wildfires.”  He also said the event will be open to Cushing and surrounding citizens as a way to, not only enjoy a little food and drink, but to thank our emergency responders.

Thompson said the plans are “still being worked on” and more information will be forthcoming.  If you would like to help in planning this event, please call the Chamber at 918-225-2400.
