(Cushing, Okla.) The annual Relay for Life event will take place Saturday, June 23rd at the Cushing High School football field at 5:30 p.m. This year there are 22 teams and 211 participants and to date nearly $70,000 has been raised in the fight against cancer.
Survivors have been invited to the Survivor Dinner at 5:30 p.m. with the Survivor Lap immediately following. Survivors are honored and joined by those who wish to walk with them as they make their way around the track. One or more team members will continue the walk all night long.
At dusk, luminarias will be lit in memory of those who have fought the battle, who are fighting the battle and those who did not win. They can be purchased for just $5.
The evening will be filled with all sorts of activities all night long. At sunrise (approximately 6 a.m.) a service will be held, formally ending the 2012 Relay for Life.
