(Cushing, Okla.) Folks along the route between Guthrie and Drumright are urged to drive safely as the 2012 Free Wheel Oklahoma Bicycle Tour travels through Cushing.
Over 850 bicyclists are expected to start at daybreak and arrive in Drumright late Thursday afternoon.
In a Nixle news release from Cushing Police Department, motorists are urged to follow these safety tips:
– Drive smart, safe and aware
– If bicyclists are present, drive below the posted speed limit
– Move left to allow as much space as possible for the bicyclists when traffic conditions permit.
– Remember: bicyclists do not enjoy the same protections as a person operating a car, so drive with their safety in mind.
The Oklahoma Free Wheel Tour runs from June 10th – 16th and is comprised of approximately 850 riders. This marks the 34th year of riding across Oklahoma.
