(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Cushing woman who was accused of stabbing a boyfriend in March has been charged with illegally using another man’s BMW that was wrecked on River Road just west of Highway 108 in May.
Robin Leola McGee, 25, was advised last week by a letter from the District Attorney’s Office that she must appear in court on or before June 20 or a warrant will be issued for her arrest.
McGee has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possessing marijuana and obstructing an officer by allegedly claiming to have been a passenger and not knowing who was driving the BMW when it was wrecked on May 25.
At the time, McGee was free on $10,000 bail on a charge of using a folding knife to stab a boyfriend at least three times in the abdomen and chest at his residence in the 400 block of E. Cherry Street in Cushing.
McGee had been arrested at 9:20 a.m. on March 18 by Cushing Police Officer Matthew Piatt, who was sent to the Cushing hospital at 2:48 a.m. that day to talk to a stabbing victim, according to his affidavit.
The victim told the officer that McGee had been living with him at his residence for the past three days, the affidavit alleged.
He said that he and McGee began arguing and she struck him in the head with her right closed fist, the affidavit alleged.
He said that the argument continued outside and McGee stabbed him three times, “once in the stomach, once in the left chest, and once in the upper chest below the neck line,” the affidavit alleged.
McGee allegedly admitted she had assaulted her boyfriend with a knife that was thrown on top of an adjacent building by another one of her male friends, who was not charged, according to court records.
That male friend “stated he did witness the assault and threw the knife on the roof of the adjacent building in an attempt to conceal it from law enforcement,” the affidavit alleged.
Her new case was filed after Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Darren Potter reported that at 12:59 a.m. May 25, he was called to a one-vehicle accident on River Road just west of Highway 108, according to his affidavit.
When he arrived at the scene, Cushing Fire Department ambulance personnel were treating McGee and a 48-year-old man — both of whom the trooper talked to in the back of the Cushing ambulance, the affidavit said.
“They explained that they were out ‘back roading’ with two other girls. They said they were in the back seat and the two other girls were in the front.
“They said that there was another vehicle following them. After the accident, they said the other vehicle stopped and assisted with getting the other two girls out, but left them and sped away,” the affidavit said.
During the trooper’s investigation, he determined that a red 2009 BMW had turned onto River Road from Highway 108, the affidavit said.
“The driver was going too fast to make a left turn; the vehicle went into a broadside slide and departed the road to the right.
“The vehicle then struck a large piece of concrete and rolled one-quarter time coming to rest on its top in a deep ditch along the Cimarron River,” the affidavit said.
After a wrecker pulled out the BMW that was registered to an Osage County man, the trooper noticed there was a child safety seat in the left rear seat, the affidavit said.
“I then went to the Cushing hospital. While at the hospital, I learned that Robin McGee had left the hospital against medical advice.
“She was being treated for chemical burns to her leg and crotch area consistent with a ‘shake and bake’ meth lab. She also had bruising on her left shoulder from the seat belt,” the affidavit said.
The 48-year-old man, who was not charged, was still at the hospital and “again told me there were two other girls in the car with them,” the trooper wrote in his affidavit.
“He stated Robin was sitting in the back seat in the middle and he was sitting in the back seat on the right side,” the affidavit said. That man said he did not know who the other girls were or who the occupants of the other vehicle were, the affidavit said.
Later that morning, the trooper was asked to contact by phone the BMW owner, who said he lives in Osage County near Pawhuska, the affidavit said.
“He told me that he was contacted by Robin McGee and that she had told him what had happened to his car,” the affidavit alleged.
The BMW owner said “McGee had stayed with him a few times, but they are not in a serious relationship,” the affidavit said.
He said he had gone to visit his mother in the hospital, and when he returned home on the evening of May 24, his BMW was gone, the affidavit said.
He said “McGee had driven the car a few times, but did not have permission to drive it to Cushing,” the affidavit alleged.
The trooper received consent from the owner of the BMW to search the car, where he allegedly found in the center console a small bag of marijuana that also contained half a pill of what was believed to be Lortab, the affidavit alleged.
If convicted of all of her charges, McGee could be incarcerated for 17 years and fined $6,500, court records show.
