(Cushing, Okla.) It’s that time again – time for fantastic barbecue and blues at BBQ n Blues in Cushing. The annual event features the world’s largest smoker, fun activities for the kids, t-shirts, and cold drinks – with red hot blues from Little Joe McLerran.
Please note this year the event will start at 5 p.m. and go until 9 p.m.
Cushing Chamber of Commerce director Brent Thompson said all snorkels of the unique smoker will be filled for the first time in several years. The 2012 cook-off participants are: TransCanada, Plains, Rose Rock Midstream, Sunoco Logistics, Centurion Pipeline, LP, Matrix Service, Magellan, Mercuria, DeepRock Energy, Enterprise Crude Pipeline, LLC, Enbridge and BlueKnight. Tasting kits are still just $5.
“Eat all you want and vote for your favorite!”
Oklahoma native Little Joe McLerran is said to be “perhaps the finest Piedmont Blues player on the face of God’s green earth.”
In 2009, McLerran received international notoriety when he took first place in the 25th Annual International Blues Competition held in Memphis, TN.
It isn’t McLerran’s first visit to Cushing – he played at Festival in the Park in October, 2009 and was the featured performer at last year’s BBQ n Blues.
Special to this year’s BBQ n Blues – the Chamber will auction off a 2011 OSU Commemorative Football at approximately 7 p.m.
T-shirts will also be available for purchase.
Come join the fun at BBQ n Blues! It’s free, it’s fun and it’s for the entire family!
Directions: From the intersection of Hwys 33 & 18, drive north on Hwy 18 for 1 mile. Turn left on Grandstaff Rd and drive for 3/10 of a mile. Festival will be held on the south side of Grandstaff Rd.
