Monday night’s regular City meeting began by proclaming April 16, 2012 as “Anna-Marie Ahrberg, DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMAN OF OKLAHOMA DAY” and recognizing Anna-Marie for her accomplishments and upcoming competion for the national title with 49 other high school senior young women, one from each state, in the categories of Fitness, Interview, Talent, and Scholastics for a share of $75,000 in college scholarships to be held June 17-30 in Mobile, Alabama. Anna-Marie Ahrberg is the daughter of Bill and Jo Ahrberg.
The second proclamation spotlighted the 61st observance of the National Day of Prayer with Denise Kinzie accepting the proclamation mandated by both houses of Congress and by the President for May 3, 2012.
The consent docket for the City regular meeting was approved.
In general business, Resolution No. 16-2012 was approved authorizing the City Manager to issue a purchase order to P & K Equipment in the sum of $11,840.60 for a bunker and field rake for the Cushing Youth and Community Center.
Resolution No. 17-2012, a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a purchase order to Grissom LLC in the sum of 9,380.00 for a commercial track mower under state contact for the Cushing Youth and Community Center passed.
The approval of Resolution No. 18-2012 passed authorizing the City Manager to issue a purchase order to Charleton’s Heat & Air in the sum of $6,857.00 for the purchase and installation of a new 5-ton commercial gas package purchase unit for the Cushing Youth and Community Center.
Resolution No. 19-2012 amending the fiscal year 2012 -2013 was approved followed by the approval of Resolution No. 20-2012, a resolution to adopt the fiscal year 2012 -2013 budget.
Approval of Resolution No. 21-2012, authorizing the Chairman, Board of Commisioners, to change order No. 7 in the sum of $2,520.09 with B&B Builders L.L.C. for the Cushing Public Saftety Center passed.
A resolution to authorize the City Manager to issue a purchase order to the radio shop in the sum of $15,724.00 for eighteen motorola CDM155OLS+ Radios and eight Motorola portable HT125OVHF radios for less than the state contract price for the Cushing Fire Department passed, titled Resolution No. 22-2012.
Discussion and action to appoint three members to new three terms on the Senior Citizens Center Advisory Board passed. The members are; Virginia Boyles, Douglas Larson and Loyd Harris.
Lively discussions came from commisioners as they weighed the possible action to authorize the issuance of a construction change directive to B&B Builders L.L.C., to add ceramic tile and base to specified rooms in the new Public Safety Center. After deliberations, the first motion was passed to add ceramic mop base tiles to the new facility. A second motion was made and passed to add ceramic tile to rooms 106 and 107 at a cost of approximately $13 per foot ( to the womens and mens bathrooms in the main lobby) while other rooms (104, 127, 128, 130, 102, 105, 110, and 114) will remain as orginally planned for the new Public Safety Center.
The Cushing Municipal Authority agenda passed, including the approval to adopt the fiscal year 2012-2013 budget.
The Cushing Hospital Authority Board of Trustees agenda met approval including the fiscal year 2012-2013 budget.
And lastly, the Cushing Industrial Authority agenda met with approval as well including the fiscal year 2012-2013 budget.
