Mattie L. Muck, longtime Cushing resident passed away early Wednesday morning, March 21, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 97 years.
The daughter of the late Clarence Shumate and Bertha Hicks Shumate, Mattie was born on March 6, 1915 in Bonita, TX, and was raised and educated in Guthrie.
She was united in marriage to Moreland F. Muck on June 20, 1940 in Oklahoma City and to this union one son, Marty was born. The couple came to Cushing in 1945 and she had lived here since that time. Moreland preceded her in death on December 1, 1980.
Mattie had worked for several Doctor’s in Cushing prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and for many years had volunteered at the Cushing Hospital with the Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son Marty Muck and his wife Melinda of Tulsa; her grandchildren Courtney Muck, Bradley Muck and his fiancée Allison Ehrfurth; two sisters Dorothy Adams of Edmond and Billie Seaton of South California, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother Jimmy Shumate and two sisters Edith Riley and Helen Galliciez.
Graveside services will be Saturday, March 24 at 2 P.M. in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Reverend Sonja Tobey, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be may be made to the First United Methodist Church in her memory.
