(Cushing, Okla.) Payne County Commissioner candidate Bobby Farley (Dem) stopped by the Donna & Molly Show Wednesday to talk about his campaign and why he is running for commissioner of District 1.
Farley told listeners he believes his background as a business owner has helped prepare him for the job of commissioner. “I have owned two businesses and I’ve had to deal with people on a day to day basis,” he said. “And I know how to manage money.” Another plus – he has worked in construction and is familiar with heavy equipment.
Farley said his familiarity with Payne County roads has led him to a check list of priorities:
“The first thing is drainage,” he continued. “We have a problem with drainage on county roads.”
According to Farley, some of the drainage problems could be solved by clearing the right-of-ways and intersections of weeds, trees and brush which would allow the sun to dry the roads faster.
“Besides, if you can’t see past the intersection, it becomes a safety issue, too,” he said.
Farley also mentioned bridges will be a priority should he be elected.
All in all, Farley wanted people to know it is his intention to “do things right the first time.”
“Doing things right the first time not only saves time, but money – taxpayer’s money.
“Whether you vote for me or my opponent Noel Bagwell, I hope everyone gets out and votes next Tuesday,” Farley said.
Governor Mary Fallin called for a special election for Feb. 14th after the death of long-time commissioner Bill Deering last September.
Tune in to the Donna & Molly Show on Thursday to hear an interview with Farley’s opponent – Noel Bagwell. Scheduled for approximately 9 a.m. on KUSH.
Reminder: Voters must present a valid i.d.when voting
