Edith Mae Kyser, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012 in her home at the age of 89 years.
Graveside services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in the Parkland Cemetery with Brother Anthony Sloate officiating.
The daughter of the late Charlie W. Blackburn and Caroline (Brown) Blackburn, Edith was born on August 26, 1922 in Cushing. She grew up mostly in Cushing but also lived in Kansas and Missouri.
Edith was united in marriage to Johnie Kyser in 1950. She had worked as a CNA in Sapulpa for 10 years. Edith was a member of the General Assembly & Church of the Firstborn in Cushing. She loved to read, sew, and knit, especially making dolls, Raggedy Ann’s, Topsie Turvy’s, and Sock Monkey’s but her favorite pastime was going to church.
Survivors include her children, Jeanie Pate of Down South and Edward Kyser and his wife Glenda of Cushing; 11 grandchildren, Erica Pate, Eric Pate, Matthew Kyser, Leroy Kyser, Paul Kyser, Joshua Kyser, Sheree` Brown, Trig Mullins, Terry Mullins, Timmy Mullins, and Lisa Mullins; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Kyser; one son, Darrell Mullins; two brothers, Ira Blackburn and Harley Dean Blackburn; and five sisters, Frances Blackburn, Dorothy Blackburn, Thelma Patton, Freda Blackburn and Eva Blackburn.
