Richard O. Dennis, a lifelong Yale area resident, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011, in the OSU Medical Center, Tulsa, OK, at the age of 59 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, OK and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2011, at the Grace Assembly Church, Yale, OK, with Pastor Raymond Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale, OK. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. on Monday in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale.
The son of Franklin E. Dennis and Virginia Mae (Morris) Dennis, Richard was born on October 14, 1952, in Yale. He was reared and educated in Yale, graduating with the class of 1970.
Following high school, Richard entered into the United States Army and received his honorable discharge in 1972. Richard owned and operated the Dennis Appliance Repair, which his father had owned and operated. Many will remember Richard as a contract oilfield worker in Cushing for several recent years. Richard enjoyed sports and in earlier years was always staying fit, he loved to work out and play tennis, but most of all he loved to fish and watch his beloved Sooners play football.
Survivors include his daughter Whitney Dennis of Stillwater; two sisters, Brenda Gibson of Yale, Becka Redding and her husband Ned of Yale; one brother, Raymond Dennis and his wife Wilma of Yale, and other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Virginia Dennis.
