(Cushing, Okla)  – Just before 6:00 p.m. this evening, Cushing police were summoned to the 2300 blk E. Main Street, after a man was shot while driving his pickup. Police initially believed the victim had been taken to Cushing Regional Hospital, but later learned he had been taken to Cushing Airport and taken via helicopter to a Tulsa Hospital.  The victim, who has not been identified,  is in unknown condition.

Not long after the incident occurred, police released a NIXLE Alert seeking Jerry Dale Bennett, WM, 19 YOA, 6’1″, 185 lbs, Blue Eyes, Blondish Hair.  Approximately one hour later, policed announced via NIXLE that Bennett had turned himself in, and was brought in by family members.

Bennett was questioned by police, and later jailed on an outstanding Payne County warrant for failure to appear.

During the investigation, police also spoke with Glencoe resident Richard Earl Michael, WM, 20. Michael was arrested by Cushing police for Obstruction and booked into the Cushing jail.

“The investigation is still ongoing,” Chief Terry Brannon said. “We still have more interviews to conduct, and until those interviews are completed, we will not prematurely assume what we think may have occurred.”

Police are still investigating the incident.
