(Skiatook, Okla) – Despite 19 points from Cherron Lewis, the Cushing Lady Tigers saw their season end at the hands of the Jay Lady Bulldogs, 62-52. Jay opened the second half with a 9-0 run to take the lead, and never trailed again. Cushng led at half 34-25.
Key three pointers in the 2nd half fell for the Lady Bulldogs, while Cushing was cold from behind the arc. Lewis had 7 points in the 2nd half, but it wasn’t enough for Cushing to advance.
It was the first time all season the Lady Tigers lost consecutive games, having lost on Friday in the Regional Championship to Vinita.
The Lady Tigers finished the season with a record of 21-5, with a district title, and Regional Tournament Championship. Ironically, the Regional title came at the expense of the same Lady Bulldogs team that ended Cushing’s season.
McKenzie Stanford finished the game with 13 points, Taylor Jones had 8, Elecia Harrison added 4, Whitney Linder 3, Brittany Youngman 2, and Mariah Burris 2.
Shonda Hagler played most of the game but did not score.
