Jim Kephart took time out of his schedule to visit with the KUSH girls this week and we were so excited to have him as our guest on a Tempting Tuesday!

KUSH Radio Station recently installed a new transmitter – leaving the previous one as a emergency system however the oldest transmitter at KUSH is something you have to see to appreciate.  The first time that Jim came out, he confessed his love for being a ham radio operator and took an immediate liking to what the KUSH Girls affectionately refer to as the Borg.  Yes, the oldest transmitter at KUSH was dubbed the Borg by the KUSH Girls, a entity originating from the episodes of Star Trek.   The old transmitter still has it’s tubes… they still light up… and there’s no telling what that piece of machinery can really do… or not do!  I tempted Jim on a Tempting Tuesday with the idea of taking the Borg off our hands, with a few minor details that I am not sure he knew what to make of.  It seems the room that houses the Borg could have been built “around” the Borg and whoever would take on the challenge of removing it would certainly have their work cut out for them!  I think Jim is still thinking about it and only time will tell if he becomes the Borg’s new master!

After a few laughs about such a undertaking, we sat down to talk about the services offered by the respiratory department at Cushing Regional Hospital.  Jim was this month’s Spotlight Speaker for the monthly C.A.R.E. (Cushing Area Resource Exchange) meeting held in the Education Room of the hospital.  We talked about the difference between vaporizers, humidifiers, the need for flu shots, COPD and sleeping disorders to the hopes  for advanced asthma testing in the respiratory department at CRH.

We will be sure to let everyone know if Jim decides to take ownership of the Borg – I am sure the twinkle in his eye has not dimmed from the thoughts of taking possession of KUSH’s oldest transmitter.

When you visit with Jim you’ll know that helping people with their respiratory needs at Cushing Regional Hospital is something he truly enjoys!
